I have seen a few musical animated movies based on biblical texts from Christianity and I have to say I always loved them. I've seen these 2 since I was little:
The Prince of Egypt and Joseph: King of Dreams. Besides of animated ones I've also seen The Ten Commandments from 1956, a little of Ben Hur(even though it's not actually biblical but it's based in the periods of Jesus and even feature Jesus' path to crucifixion) from 1959 and the christian movie most of us may have seen or heard of which is The Passion of the Christ.

i always liked 10 commandments and the greatest story ever told ( both movies ) i highly recommend them as for tv shows i like what history channel showed called christ i believe? it was amazing also!!
