Basically there is a Chimpanzee in captivity and some animal rights types are hoping a judge will recognize the chimps rights not to imprisonment. This would be a break through case effectively giving monkeys human rights. Imagine you are the judge in this case, what would you do?

I suppose the question is what makes us different from our chimp cousins? What makes humans humans?

a human being can speak intelligently solve complex equations but whose to say they couldn't teach a chimp that? i would guess the major answer is they can teach a chimp to do the things humans can do so why not classify them all there own species intelligently i think its stupid to classify a chimp as a human being but that all depends on who you talk to as to where we come from personally i don't believe in the whole evolution thing it seems more logical to me to think an alien came down and fucked a monkey any who it depends on who you ask as some people believe we came from monkeys and others believe aliens screwed with our DNA and then some believe of course we where created by god. as for me i think they shouldn't try to classify it human thats almost a waste of time when they could be pussing for releasing of top secret government files or something

Perhaps the answer of human origins is embedded right into every one of us, right in our DNA. I just thought of that, but I'm sure many people have used that as a quote :p

The great apes are very clever and very human like. What I want to know isn't about evolution or religion, more about intelligence. I've seen chimps doing maths and communicating using sign language. We know dolphins, dogs and rats are all clever but where do we draw the line on what makes us human?

I'd say the line is the difference of the brains.

maybe the different between us is the level of consciousness. we are in a higher level of conciousness, those higher dimensional being got higher consciousness compare to us. monkeys and us just like us and angels(high level being)

I've been watching so many videos of apes and monkeys doing sign language. Its amazing that we can communicate and have dialogue with another species, that we can talk about feelings and emotions in a way humans thought was unique to us.
I stared into a monkeys eyes once. It was an illuminating experience.
