Aleister Crowley was an occultist famously practiced black magick in the early 1900s. He started his own occult religion and is responsible for the phrase "do as thou wilt".

one of the most misunderstood phrases. "do as thou wilt" does not mean "do what you want". "do what you want" is ego driven, but the books of him always tend to the contact with, what he calls "the holy guardian angel", what other systems call the higher self, holy spirit, superego,...
problematic was, that he was addicted to heroine. maybe thats a reason why almost every wife of him had to go to the madhouse. ^^

I always interpreted it as "do as you must" like the end justifies the means or something.

He lived in near Loch Ness too. That's a pretty weird place already without Crowley rocking up there too!

Aleister Crowley was an accomplished mountain climber poet chess player and writer. He is also the most well known and influential occult magician of modern times. Aleister Crowley was also a member of "the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn".

Other famous psychic members of the Order of the Golden Dawn include Madame Blavatsky and George Cecil Jones.

I'd like to chime in: In his books if you skimmed over to the practicals, IT WILL NOT WORK/GET YOU CURSED. The instructions on there has been deliberately done to "weed" out the....fools? He does this in a very clever way which means....you have to read!

Intresting guy. Few years ago I read the book of law, Liber AL vel Legis. Intresting and weird stuff. It is recommended that you read the book of law first from Crowley.

Not his. But Crowley dealth with black magick. I don't practice that one.

Ok. I guess there is nothing wrong if someone explores black magic but don't use it. But of course there is a risk if that person possess book of black magic. Crowley had a theory that there is no white or black magic. He also developed some yoga magic.

Indeed. But I still don't like black magick that much. Most of the times you pull the trigger in a form to say and then the universe brings the big guns on you.

And some black magic books could lure some unexpected spirits to your home.

But I have to say that Crowley had good points and theories. Crowley form religion thelema, which require that you have to explore different kind of religions. In order to seek wisdom, truth, etc. Crowley had a theory that all religions after all are same. And one of the thelemas main teachings was that you have to get contact to your guardian angel. Self-discipline is important in thelema, and to be thankful about things you have. For example before eating you have to pray.

Every man and every woman is a star. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Thou hast no right but to do thy will. Love is the law, love under will.

But Crowley didn't mean that you do everything that comes to your mind. And you have to take responsibility what you do.

Well Aleister Crowley was a poet. As well he was apart of the O.T.O and he was a druggy and there has been rumor that he was Homosexual as well which means into men. He got his name from his mother who would call him the Beast for being bad. His interest in the Occult started very earlier and he pursued is lust when you got older which after his dad died he got a whole lot of money to fully devote his live to his lust. He married twice I believe. Who he created the Thelema was when he took a trip to Egypt, He encountered his first spirit which is where he got the instructions for creating the book of the Law. Which I own a copy of this book. Nice read but only if you like riddles. But here is a Link for you all to look upon.
